MFT Birthday Girl

Once I started, I just couldn't resist using the same sketch challenge at
shown on my previous post on a birthday card for my granddaughter's upcoming birthday!
As it happens, it also qualifies for last week's color challenge
at

I'm determined to add some new stamps to my
MFT collection. Mine are slightly outdated.

I still love the ones I have!
This is "PI Celebration",
with the sentiment from "PI My Birthday"!

As always, colored with my Copics, and trying to use the
DCWV papers from my days on their DT!

Added some Stickles here and there, along with the candles and bow from
my stash.  I love the little golden slippers because my granddaughter
would so wear that exact outfit given the chance!

She'll be turning six, so the baby cards are over.
These should be a terrific replacement for unicorns and puppies!

She loves the homemade and 3D cards and usually keeps them.

Yep, she's the diva that inspires me to create the cards and scrapbook.
My grandson, at 14, is somewhat harder to wrangle down to get a photo!

Well, that's a little peek into my world as a Grandma!

Happy Crafting!

Paper Piecing for SFTW!

When I stamp, I often forget that paper piecing can really add so much texture and color to your image. And, I'm not always in the mood to color that day!

For the challenge this week at
we are highlighting "FLOWERS!"

I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot of flowers and Valentine's on the girls' projects,
so I  limited the stamped and paper flowers and went with a flower garden theme.

The image is one from "Sparkle Creations" that I've had for quite some time.
Even though Sparkle, the owner, has closed shop for now, due to have a baby sometime this summer,
I wanted to create a card showcasing the way pattern paper piecing can add so much
to a simple image.
Also, the twine and tiny rhinestone earring make her so adorable!
So, don't forget to get out those tiny scissors and create!

Enter your own project at
and win a great prize (sponsor is a surprise!)

I would love to know you were here, so please leave a comment!
We get so many wonderful entries, but I'd like to know who's out there reading this!

Have a great Valentine's weekend!

Stampendous Challenge Part Two

I have another House Mouse project for the August challenge at Stampendous today.
This time it is a simple holiday card with another
adorable House Mouse!

Hanging Around

Close up of image

I debated adding "snow" to the branches and leaves but didn't want to distract from the cute little image!
And notice the difference when shadows were added to the image.
They didn't show up very well in the photo, but adding shadows gives dimension!

I am so excited to see these little images available at Stampendous!
My Christmas cards are almost completely finished and it's only August!
Yippee!

Papers: October Afternoon

Have a great weekend!

Traditional Christmas cards from DCWV!

Holiday Greetings!
More Christmas goodness from
"Traditional Holiday" stack goodness,
that is!

Beads and pendant are "Blue Moon".
Here's another quick card made from the same stack!

The flower was die cut from the "Heirloom Christmas" stack.

All other pattern papers are "Traditional Holiday"
Simple and easy...

Winter Friends!

What little girl didn't grow up dreaming of getting a pony for Christmas!

When I saw this new stamp from the
Crafter's Companion,
I immediately recalled those early days and thinking I could actually have a horse in the suburbs!

"Champion"

Wrapped up like a package, and sporting my favorite boot charms, this little
Christmas card would have been the perfect one for a little horse-lover like me!

My dreams and wishes are more realistic now, but I did finally get my horses and, while it lasted, enjoyed having them every day!

Spectrum Noir colors used:

I hope all of your dreams and wishes come true for the holiday season!

My Farewell to DYSU!

*$25 Gift Certificate

First off, some sad news.
Due to my other commitments and scheduling,
I have decided to step down from the
Do You Stack Up? Design Team.
Let me say, though, that these gal's have been THE nicest, sweetest, most encouraging group I have ever worked with!

There comes a time when you realize, however,
that there are only so many hours in a day.

Wow, now that I've said it, it's really hit home. I will sincerely miss the friends I've made there.
All those times I fussed over the image I was assigned, now I see how they made me a better, more creative artist.
********************************************
I also just found out that I will be starting a new job in January!
Well, not a job really, and not even what I would call WORK, but
I will be caring for a 6 week old baby girl for a friends' friend!
Yep, the little guy's Mother I babysat for from the time he was 2 months old until 18 months, has a good friend who is expecting this next month! Another fellow teacher and a sweetheart of a gal!
I can't wait!
I'll still also be packing up 200+ class card kits a month for my good friend, Jennifer,
and keeping up with my other Design Team assignments as well!  Ugh!
 *******************************
But, enough chit-chat...
Here are my cards for this week at DYSU!

I used the "Honeycomb" stamp from Market Street Stamps, and absolutely love it!

Yes, I went the "chicken wire" route!
I saw many folks are into the bees and honeycomb patterns, but I wanted to be different and chose to layer the "Honeycomb" embossed image over the
Recollection, "Rooster Provencial" stack pages.

These are huge glossy images printed on the 12 x 12 paper,
and made for the perfect 6 x 6 cards!
I find myself paying the extra more often to send out the bigger, thicker cards.
I love them, as do my friends and relatives!

The Market Street stamp is big, too!
It covered the entire upper 3/4 of my card!
And detailed the embossing so well!
I stamped in Momento, Rich Cocoa, and then sprinkled it with
detail gold embossing powder from Stampendous!

The heat-embossed stamp actually looks so much like metal!

I used brads to hold down my "nests" by stringing twine from one to the other and packing in the moss.
The addition of the dried corn was compliments of my little Goffin cockatoo.
Of course, he doesn't know he donated a portion of his mix for these projects!

These will be used a NOTE cards for whenever an occasion comes up where I have something to "crow" about or share a "Thank You!"  LOL!

A big THANK YOU to "Do You Stack Up?"!

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Alison, and everyone else at DYSU for welcoming me into their blog and always being there to support me.

Never fear though! I have promised to come back to take part in a large group DYSU hop in December!
Have fun looking at all of the team's projects!

And, I'm not going anywhere!
You'll still find me right here!

Humphrey takes off!

Welcome everyone to my very first
Design Team post!

 Yep, that's right!

My big news, well for me, is that I am now a proud member of both the
Crafter's Companion Challenge Blog
and the
Crafter's Companion Blog!
This means I will be bringing you not only the fun new challenge every month,
but sneaks and releases of the newest Crafter's Companion stamps and products!

I am so thrilled to be on this team
that I celebrated by coloring this adorable "Humphrey" image
and making this window card
for the
Fall Colors Challenge!

Today's the LAST DAY to get your entry posted!

Isn't she cute?
The image is
"Swinging By"
and can be found here at the CC store!

Lots of fussy cutting on this little sweetie!
After coloring and cutting, I attached her "rope" and
hung her from the window opening.
The paper used for background is
DCWV, "Wild Splendor" stack
and the punched leaves are made with the tiny Recollections leaf punch.

Quick, join the fun and maybe you could win
a $30 gift certificate to the Crafter's Companion store!

Introducing Sky!

Today my card showcases an adorable little Toread nymph by the name of

"Sky".

She is cute, precocious, and very worldly.

I have visions of her scurrying around from here to there, crossing oceans and forests, without anyone being the wiser...

They may be "mythological" , but just like the unicorns and elves, fairies and gnomes,
do we really, truly believe they never existed?
LOL!  I 'd like to think they did, and still do, in some far away corner of the world.

I may only get as far as across this country, but this card will deliver a message of exploration and excitement... well, for me , anyway.

Each and every Toread has its' own personality depending on how each person colors it!  Go crazy with your markers and see what you can do!

I had a blast using:

7 Gypsies papers
Alcohol-Based Markers
Stickles
Recollections Brads
Leaf Charm, Blue Moon Beads
Cotton cloth, Dollar Store

Bye!!

Cardinals Greeting....

Stampendous
"Cardinal"

A little appropriate Copic coloring on the male and female birds,
(thanks to Google search!),
Color and fussy cut the leaves and branches,
some punched snowflakes,
and a sprinkling of fabric paint "snow" ...
and what a gorgeous pair of winter Cardinals!

The sketch at Skipping Stones really helped get my mojo going on this one!

Christmas Wishes from Stampendous!

I love to emboss!
And when I find stamps that lend themselves well to heat embossing, I go nuts!
The Stampendous stamps are SO clear and detailed that they stamp and the image holds the powder perfectly every time! And the "Detail Clear" Embossing Powder seeks out every tiny little detail and provides a clear, sharp image!
Don't you love new stamps?  I know I do!

For this card, I kept it simple by stamping and clear embossing the
Jumbo "Pinecone Boughs" several times off the left edge of my paper.
I then stamped the Cling "Poinsettia Background" in dark red onto white cardstock, and punched out several sized "ornaments".  (1", 1 1/2", and 2" in this case)
The gorgeous sentiment is from the clear set, "Tis the Season".
Notice that the sentiment mat is wrapped with ribbon like a gift, and finished off with a cute little bow on top!
With a bit of inking on all of the edges, popping up the ornaments, and dangling them from the silver bling, I've made a fairly simple,
but pretty, holiday greeting!
I love to make a few simple cards every year that I can later make in multiples should I decide to send out duplicate cards to family or friends.

Time to start making those Christmas cards!

New Card Trio!

I love to make a set of cards that I can either send out
one-at-a-time to a particular person who's personality just seems to match the style of the cards,
OR, even better,  to give as a gift set.

These "Wild Splendor" papers are from DCWV
and are so gorgeous!

The soft golds, blues, and browns make them perfect for Fall projects, as well as into the coming Winter months!
See all of the new release stacks available at Michael's here!

The sentiments are from
Stampendous,
and are available in their store here.
These stamps always stamp and emboss so beautifully.
Sharp and clear every time!

With time being short, and my grandson visiting this week, I used a brand new image from Stampendous for my challenge card!
The Halloween bat bug has bitten me and I am really enjoying making the
spooky/silly cards this year!

Check out what the rest of team did with the challenge!

Paper: 7 Gypsies
Bling: Recollections
