When my father passed this last October, there were many memories I wanted to preserve.
One was the fact that my dad had a miniature train set that he had created an entire village scene around and was set up year around in their den. It was something that, as a child he never had, and had always dreamed of.
That was one of the items that I truly want to hold onto,
along with all those memories.

I used the terrific paper stack from DCWV,
"The Winter Holiday"
for this quick and simple 12 x12 layout.

The colorful little diamond and delicate blue lacey prints were perfect to make this layout boyish enough without being too bold.
For the gorgeous blue mats, I used the Jeweled Colored Cardstock Stack.
(Textured and White Core!)
Hopefully, my grandson will grow older and appreciate what a wonderful Great-Grandpa he had and will recall playing with the train village during his visits there.
We create layouts and memories for ourselves, with the dream that they will hold some special place in the hearts of others in the future.

I got so distracted by your DCWV information and links that I almost forgot to comment on your ADORABLE layout. Your grandson is adorable and I'm sure he will treasure those trains forever! It's a great layout he will be able to show his children so they too will show the love and tradition in your family. Thanks for your comments on my blog - Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Jan!! What an adorable grandson and beautiful layout! I love all those big snowflakes surrounding the sweet photos! That was a beautiful way to preserve your father's memory with the miniature train set under the tree. I love his sweet little smile :)
